The Ristorante Zù is situated on one of the most scenic viewpoints on the Lake of Iseo, being at the same time on the mountainside and just a stone’s throw away from the lake. The building of the Ristorante is to be found at the end of the narrow chasm of the valley of Zù, which presents itself as an untouched landscape including a waterfall to be seen from the upper parking area of our restaurant.
The region is famous for its historical background among other things. Initially, there it was home to a shipyard producing wooden boats, which were being launched there immediately. Later on, the former cement company ‘Italcementi’ used it for a facility to extract the raw material from caves in the mountain. For this purpose, they used a novel method of transportation by means of rails to bring the processed material to the famous ferrys. From there, it was delivered to Lovere and the rest of the world.

The ruins of this ancient construction are still to be seen nowadays. They are representative for an industrial archaeology and thereby remember the working tradition of the area. Moreover, these ruins also reflect the efforts the people then took to build this installation. The Ristorante is, to the present day, connected with this development.
Just this readiness to devotion and work are still present in this place. They stand for the ideal of tradition and commitment on which the passion is based with which Marcello and Patrizia have created and maintained this pearl on the Lake of Iseo.
